regipay PC Client User Manual

Introduction

The regipay Client allows you to open regipay messages sent to you by your employer or his tax advisor or tax office. It is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux PC. There are also versions for mobiles in the corresponding app stores. Search for "regipay" to find it. Ensure the vendor is "regify GmbH"!

Navigation

Depending on your device screen size, there is either a menu bar on top of your dialog or a hamburger button on the right (𝍢). If you only see the hamburger, please click it to open up possible navigation targets. Click it again to collapse the menu.

The login screen

Here you need to enter your regify account credentials.

Enter your email address into the Email field. Enter your password into the Password field. If you like to see the password you’ve entered, you can tick the Show password checkbox below the password field. But please make sure that no one else is looking at your screen!

Click the Login button to start the login. Please note that login can take up to 10 seconds as this is also trying to find out at which regify provider you’ve signed up.

If you forgot your password, you can click the Forgot password…​ link above the Login button. It will open up your webbrowser and guide you to the password reset page of one of the public regify providers. You can trigger a password reset there even if you have not signed up at that specific regify provider. Upon you did the password reset, check your email inbox for the password reset email. The regify provider you’ve signed up will send you an email with a password reset link.

Debugging

Please activate debugging only if you were asked to do this by regify support.

In order to activate debugging, click the regipay logo above the Email field for 5 times. Debugging will become activated.

Some additional red button will appear that allows you to reset all saved configuration. This is only needed if your software is in a state where existing configuration stops you from getting a re-login. This is usually not happening and the button is for regify support staff only.

The welcome screen

This dialog opens up if you simply start the application from your start icon.

In the upper right it will show you the logo of the regify provider you have signed up for your regify account.

In the middle it shows you the following buttons:

Read a payslip This displays useful information about how to read a regipay message.

Read a regimail This displays useful information about how to read a regimail message.

The reading screen

If you opened a regipay message, this screen automatically opens up and displays the decrypted content received content.

With regipay, the received PDF document is usually opened directly as the message body itself is empty.

The reading screen is having 4 areas:

Top area

The top area is showing you the subject, sender information, message recipients, authentication of the sender and sending date and time.

If the Auth field is empty, the sender used a regify account with no additional authentication. If the field contains information, it tells you at which level the sender was autehnticated. You can get additional details about the senders identity by clicking the icon right behind that field.

Action area

Here you can go Back to the welcome page, click Reply…​ to send a reply message to the sender or Reply all…​ to send a message to the sender and all recipients of this message. Click the Print button in order to print this message using your system dialogs.

Body area

Here the body message of the received message is displayed.

If you click any link in there, the target usually opens up in a new window in your default web browser.

Please note that the body is not executing any JavaScript and is limited in some functionality due to security. But you usually can mark and copy parts of the body with no problems. Depending on the operating system your PC is running, several more options may appear in a context menu on right click. Please note that these options are provided by your operating system and regify is not responsible for that functionality.

Attachment area

This is showing any attached files in the opened message. Just click it to open. Please note that the regipay Client just hands over the document to your operating system. It depends on your operating system settings and the availability of adequate viewer software if the document opens up directly or if a simply save dialog opens up.

Opening of larger files may need a few seconds for unpacking and decryption until the system opens the file. Please be patient.

The settings screen

The settings screen is showing several areas for different types of settings.

regify Account

Here you can see the email address you currently are signed in and also some information about the regify provider you have signed up to. You can’t change this settings here. If you plan to change the used regify account, you need to click the Reset configuration button. It will reset all settings so the next time you open up the regipay client, you need to enter email address and password again. This also removes any loaded identity file or local app password!

Security

The App password field allows you to enter any password you like to protect your local app from being used by someone else. This is not your regify password, it is just something you like to use for local protection. This is usefull if you share this device with other people and you don’t like them to be able to open regipay messages for you.

Debugging

You can turn on and off the debugging logs by ticking the Activate debugging option. Please do not turn on debugging until you are asked to do so by regify staff. If you keep turned on, there is a risk of growing logfiles which finally consume to much space on your device.

If some logfile was created, you can click the Send/save log file button in order to save the logfile to your PC (Windows, MacOS, Linux) or hand over to your email program (Android and iOS). Please do not send any debug logs to regify or your regify provider without being asked to do so before.
